Not going to fall in love

Dont Say NoQuote Card 3

Amber is trying not to fall for Jaeger, not to fall in love. Check out the excerpt below and see if you don’t think it’s too late.

Amber’s life sucks. Her ex got her thrown out of college, then fired from her job. When she’s hired for a mystery shopping assignment, she hopes this is exactly what she needs to kick-start her life and get her back on track.

Jaeger is all business when he hires Amber to check out the spa he’s purchasing. If she can help him prove that the venture will be a success, then he can build his own future, not the one his family has mapped out for him. Becoming attracted to his sexy spy isn’t part of the plan.

Amber can’t see how she fits into Jaeger’s world, and he’s too uptight to ever fit into hers. Circumstances bring them together, in bed and out, but when a secret from his upper-class life is revealed, Amber must decide if she can trust him. Or is her life going down in flames all over again?

It was a beautiful autumn day, cool for Florida this time of year. Amber was happy to put on a jacket and breathed the fresh air deeply into her lungs as she strolled along the sidewalks near her house. Though they lived a distance from the water, she could still taste a slight touch of sea salt on the back of her tongue.

The vibration of her phone reminded her she’d turned down the ringer the night before. Jaeger. A smile lit her face when she answered.

“Hey there.”

“Hey there yourself. How come you left last night? I wanted to wake up with you this morning.”

“Oh, you know. I thought it might have been awkward.”

“I thought it might have been fun. I want to see you naked in the sunlight.”

A chill traveled across her body, as though his words were like his fingers, dancing over her skin.

“So, we can save that for another time.”

“I plan on it. You doing okay today?”

“I’m wonderful.”

She tried to play it cool but failed miserably. Clearly, he could hear how happy she was.

“Me too. That was great. Sex was. Not just sex, the whole thing. Everything with you was great. Shit. Do I sound like an idiot to you? Cause I sure do to me.”

She burst out laughing.

“No, you sound…wonderful. I can’t think of any other words right now. Sorry.”

He laughed too.

“Yeah, I know the feeling. Listen, I’ve got to go. I’m getting ready to head to the spa.”

“Do you want me to come in?”

“No, take the day off. I’ll see you Monday, regular time.”

“Sooooo, this doesn’t change anything between us, right?” Amber asked.
