Perfect Ride by Eva Lefoy and Shiloh Saddler – M/M Contemporary Western Romance

In Perfect Ride, Cole Richards is caught between a rock and a hard place. It’s a tough place to be. He can’t be out on the professional bull riding circuit, and he can’t be out at home. His father hates his so-called indecent urges to be with a man and we see him give Cole hell about it in the story. Cole would surely create more suffering for himself if he came out in a very male sport. Bull riding ain’t for sissies and most of the riders have the idea that gay men are exactly that: sissies.

Well dear readers, we know better, don’t we?

Cole also suffers from loneliness and a hectic travel schedule. He’s never in one place long enough to find a relationship and that leaves him with few options. So he has a few trysts with his boss’s gay-curious son. Yeah, that’s pretty desperate but I bet it happens all the time. There have to be a lot of gay-curious men out there in real life. Maybe they are gay, maybe they’re not. Maybe they find out they’re bi, or maybe they decide that it’s not worth the trouble. At any rate, Cash decides he’s not gay but he still tries to scare away Cole’s hunky bull rider. And it works, for a little while. Until the bull rider comes back for what’s his.

Loneliness makes people do strange things but when Cole meets the black bull rider Garrett Anderson he knows he’s found a good thing. Hanging on to him’s another. Does Garrett really feel the same way about Cole? And is he willing to retire from the sport he loves in order to have a relationship?

Blurb:

Professional bull rider Garrett Anderson lives for the next town, the next trophy and his next ride. When he rolls into Sheridan, Wyoming, the last thing he expected was to meet a cowboy like Cole—a man who corrals his heart and leaves him aching for the kind of love he’s been missing.

A bull tender on the PBR circuit Cole Richards secretly longs for a lover but wasn’t prepared for Garrett’s passion or the longing their one brief tryst kindles.  After he is shot and recovering in his hospital bed, Cole can only watch Garrett’s disastrous ride afraid it could be his last. Heartbroken when the battered and bruised bull rider leaves town, Cole knows better than to hope to see him again.

Attacked again and knee-deep in trouble, Cole wants only Garrett at his side. But can his bull rider trade fame and fortune for a lifetime with his one perfect ride?

Excerpt:

As the minutes passed he lay there thinking about his first glimpse of Garrett naked, the taste of his cock, the way his smooth, black skin shimmered when moist. Then, the way his hands had groped him, the touch intense and needy. God. If he could have a man touch him like that every night….

Since leaving home branded the black sheep of the family for his “urgings” as his pa called them, he’d never once had a steady lover. Out on the circuit there was little time for a relationship. One couldn’t really call three fumbling quickies with Cash a relationship either. When Cash had gotten what he’d wanted, he’d decided he wasn’t gay after all. He frowned at the illicit memory intruding upon his Garrett worship. The whole scenario never did sit right with him. What the hell had Cash expected anyway? Men’s loving was…. well, it just was. It wasn’t any part straight and it wasn’t any part easy.

Cole sighed, gazing at Garrett’s face. He knew better than to fall head over heels for a bull rider who’d ride out of town the day after tomorrow headed to his next gig. Trouble was, there was nobody around half as good as him to fall for and he was getting tired of waiting.

His last thought before falling asleep was whether he should have left the fan on.

He woke to Garrett standing over him fully clothed, snapping his PBR belt buckle into place.

“Hey.”

“Hey, yourself. I gotta register, get my number, and do my equipment check by five.”

“Oh yeah,” was all he could think to say. Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he swung lethargic legs over the bed and sat on the edge. “Okay.”

Garrett paused. If he didn’t know better, he’d say he looked hesitant, an emotion bull riders rarely exhibited. “What time you go to work?”

“Six thirty.”

“Have a good night.” Garrett bent in half, cupped the back of his head and kissed him. Then he walked right out the door.
